A LOS ANGELES TIME SIGNATURE, 2017-18

Duration 3'23''

2018 FINALIST NILLUMBIK ART PRIZE MONTSALVAT, VIC

This framed performance in California is from a world-wide collection of improvised movements that investigate the interrelationship of body with space through a tactile and kinetic exploration of location, remembered by video.
In this particular movement, the artist’s repeated bodies play with a four trunked Gumtree in a Los Angeles park. This tree was of specific interest as, like the artist, it has been relocated to a new geography, and strongly reminiscent of elsewhere. This suspension of location arouses questions of identity, migration, and origins.

This work was selected as apart of the Melbourne Central Video Loops program in conjunction with Mars Gallery in 2017.
